kinda like harry potter, cept, you know.. not magical

So....
i just completed my first three days at scool, and well.. the best way to actually describe it, is that im kind a like harry potter...hence the title, ryan, what do you mean you ask??
well here goes
so my first day of school, I get out of the car, and imeadiaatly get whisked off to a stage in the middle of the campus, that is in front of EVERY SINGLE KID IN THE ENTIRE SCHOOL!!!
but hey no biggie, so they first, they tell the people that im an exchange student from american, and automatically, whispers, and catcalls go up through the crowd(apparently being american increases your sex appeal ten-fold among girls...and some of the guys)
after that awkward moment, they wanted me to talk about myself, sure, no problem, right?? its not like they'll really understand me...
so I started just blurting out whatever random part of roseville I could think of out.. and my classmates loved it!! they thought evey thing I said was absolutly hillarious!! i dont know if it was, the way i talked, if thevenever seen an american before, or maybe i just had my fly down, but they ate up every word I said after that I went to my classes.
it seems every where I walk in school, people ar whispering around around my, or calling out lian! lian!!(they cand pronounce r's very well, its basically like being a rockstar!!, at times its cool, and at other times, its tottaly awkward an i wish it would stop, for example, when the girls and lady-boys start hitting on me(in thailand there is actually a third gender for homosexual people wild huh?)
anyways, in my classes, i basically just sit there and smile cause all of my classes are in thai, and well... I cant understand a word! my teachers all understand this, so they just leave me be, except for my english teachers, they let me talk to the class instead of lessons,i just teach the class slang, like: Sweet, hecka cool, and dude, along with various forms of californian handshakes haha!
also in thailand boys join the army at sixteen, so all around my school there are boys younger than me fully decked out im army gear, and doing trining exercises, which is something I havent gotten used to yet.
probably the best part of the day though is lunch, its like an hour and a half!!, the food is terrible, but they have vollyball courts, tug of war tounaments(wierd!!), and basically I get recess, just like in grade school!!
the kids are nice, basically school is a ggod thing thats all ive got for now, but first, I just had a funny dream the other night, and I have to share it wioth some peoplewho actually speak english here goes,
so im hangin out with paul and geoff, and were at the movie theaters, and at the movie theater, there is a huge aquarium, so we start talking, and come up with the Idea the it would be hillarious, if we snuck a chipmunk into the thater and put it into the aquarium and watched it swim around, logical enogh right?
so somehow, we get our hands on a squirril, an hide it in my jacket, one problem though how do we get into the theater,,when we havent bought a ticket, the answer, tell the doorman we have to see a friend, and well give him our wallets as some kind of collateral... oh yeah, did i mention that the doorman was Shaq!, so we get by him, put the squirril in the tank, laugh a bit, go to get our wallets back and shaq says "m not givin them back, i want your money"
"but thats not fair!"
"who cares, dont you know who I am?? Im shaquille o neal!"

thanks for indulging me that last part hasd nothing to do with thailand..
until next time

Sankes, Monks, and Elephants! (oh my)

Hey every one, its me again, suprise huh?
so Ive just had a whirlwind of a week!! and the main points of it were snakes monks and elephants, "thats a wierd combo, how did that come about" you ask
well youve came to the right website, cause ill tell you....

It all started with a lazy thursday, my host mom and I had nothing planned, so she decieded to suprise me with a trip to the local king cobra village, thats right I said KING COBRA!!
anyways, we get there, and they have some snakes in cages, no biggie right,
wrong.
they lead me over to this, arena kind of stadium thing and sit me down and hand me a bottle of water to dink, and all of a suddin loud music booms on and a kid, no older than seven steppup on stage and bows, ant then another kid starts fishin around in a box with a big stick and whips out a live cobra!!! instantly the frist kid runs at it, and hits it on the head!
I WAS BEYOND SHOCKED!!! BLOWN AWAY!!!
the snake strikes, and the kid rolls out of the way! and they start this insane game of tag, where every time the snake barely misses, three things are on my mind right now, one, this kid is going to kill himself!
two theres no fence on this arena and im in the fron row,
and three, GET YOUR CAMERA OUT YOU IDIOT! THIS IS GOIN ON YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!

after many four snake fights and plenty of scare we took off, Id say more, but im running out of time..

Day 2 then the next day, we went out to khonkaen, (its like a drive to sacramento)
to go visit the temple, and let me say, this thing was BEAUTIFUL!!!, not just aww thats pretty... lets go somewhere else,no thuis thing was massive nine stories tall, shaped like afour sided spire, that strached up to the heavens, with tiny bells all over the entire the entre structure, that made a melodic tinkling that you could hear half a block away, the entide enterior was golden and red, with magnificent statues, and monks every where everywhere, and from when the eighth story, you could see half the provine o khonkaen, did I mention all the flors were open air, no windows, you were actially on the side of the building, the monks, that were there were awesome, and they even took a picture with me, I spent about an hour in that temple, just wandering the hals and floors, it was pretty sweet!!

today, thohg was by fay one of my favorites!!!
driving back from bangkok, I was able to stop at this blace, where people let you ride elepants, yes real ELEPHANTS!!! aroun the ruins of temples and the city!!!
it was exhillarating, amazing, sublime, pick a word!!!
i SAT UP ON THIS kind of bench seat, behin the driver and we rode around the ruins and town for about twenty minuets, and the things can actually book it, i mean, if I didnt hold on, id of gotten thrown off quite a few times, and it would have been a pretty big fall, it was absolutly increadible, and im gonna remember it for quite a while!!
any ways theres my story, Im spent, and probably have an onset of carpal tunnel now, so im gonna go to bed, its about eight twenty am... yesterday back home dont worry though guys tommoro has been great for me I hope it will be for you...
until next time

Gekos on the celing and other thai oddities

yep This blog is going to be a list of the strange things that i have found here, so with no further ado here we go!
gekos on the celings, all the time
no toilet paper, only water, haha its kinda funny
people eat with a spoon and a fork, one in each hand at all times
the actual day of the week you were born on dictates how you donate to the temple
when people drive, ots on the left side of the road, and my host mom can never actually chose a lane, she always stradles the median
cows crossing the street!!
kareoke is taken very seriously!!! at the last rotary meeting, they busted it out and sang all night!
hold on.... sorry I had to kill this massive thai wasp!(oh yeah did I mention, bugs are everywhere)
my host family watches WWE!
showers ar either normal, or consist of me taking small buckets of water over my head
people LOVE the king and queen, pictures are every where, yellow is actually the symbol of the king, everywhere people wear yellow shirts that say "long live the king!!" on them
well thats all the time I have for now, Ill be giving a part two soon
until next time
