Gekos on the celing and other thai oddities

yep This blog is going to be a list of the strange things that i have found here, so with no further ado here we go!
gekos on the celings, all the time
no toilet paper, only water, haha its kinda funny
people eat with a spoon and a fork, one in each hand at all times
the actual day of the week you were born on dictates how you donate to the temple
when people drive, ots on the left side of the road, and my host mom can never actually chose a lane, she always stradles the median
cows crossing the street!!
kareoke is taken very seriously!!! at the last rotary meeting, they busted it out and sang all night!
hold on.... sorry I had to kill this massive thai wasp!(oh yeah did I mention, bugs are everywhere)
my host family watches WWE!
showers ar either normal, or consist of me taking small buckets of water over my head
people LOVE the king and queen, pictures are every where, yellow is actually the symbol of the king, everywhere people wear yellow shirts that say "long live the king!!" on them
well thats all the time I have for now, Ill be giving a part two soon
until next time

oh man, it sounds so interesting there. Have you been adjusting well the difference in culture?

I've always wanted to visit thailand, at least I can live vicariously through you and this blog ;) Though now that I read about the no toilet paper, and bugs everywhere....... maybe my visit would be short if I ever make it! hahaha

Geckos, huh?! Sounds a lot like Hawaii.
Good luck with Mom Tuk driving! Are you used to it yet being on the other side of the road?
Oooohh, the toilet situation would take some getting used to.
Hang in there with the bugs! Do you have your bug net?
Ah...now you know why we restricted you to short showers all this time!!
Good to hear from you. Long live the king!

Hi Ryan!
It's great to hear all your adventures in Thailand, and to laugh with you with all the new and interesting 'differences' Ha!
The toilet paper thing....scary....do they do deodorant? Keep your bug spray close....started school yet?

Love you, Aunt Cece and Uncle Duane

greetings to chalomkiat. Sounds like you are getting used to the living customs of the community. It would be just the same if your host family came over here. we have all the bugs in Napa Valley, but no geckos..What are you doing at the school?? Didn't classes start yet? They will like your skills in English. Love Grandpa C

Try not to hit the cows on your way to school.. Speaking of I wanna see a picture of you in your uniform. hehe! My prayers are with you!

Hey chalomkiat, of Anne
Sawatdi ka (Hello)
I have enjoyed reading your blogs and look forward to having many laughs over the months to come in you adventure. The toilets remind me of home while the Geckos remind me of Mexico. ;+) About the driving! I'm sure that is a kick. Good luck in starting school.

P.S
Please don't take up your host moms driving cause your turning in the court is a hoot in its self. LOL

Hi Ryan,

Love the factoids; all the little differences makes us realize how very big the world is.. OR NOT???....
You host mom drives like me, and ken love to eat with a fork and spoon, and he often calls me Queen...and everybody knows how much your dad loves to Kareoke right? But gekos on the ceilings???
no TP? how does that work?
Livin' in Thailand sounds fascinating! Enjoy!
